I'm a lucky guy.
I'll be honest, hopefully this doesn’t come across as smug but honest. I love being a photographer and I love photography. I get to meet smashing people doing awesome things. I get to go to interesting places and get involved in interesting things. This experience within the world of photography has also led me to be in the fortunate position of leading workshops and provide mentor support for other photography lovers in and around Derby and further across the UK. I’ve led various workshops about various subject matter and love seeing what those who get involved get up to, shoot and witness how they develop as independent creative photographers.

I’ve led street portrait workshops, out and about on the cobbles of Nottingham and Derby.  I’ve led portrait basics workshops, showcasing how to get the best of many situations both with natural light and artificial/ studio systems. I’ve led nature walks talking about landscapes and I’ve led basic sessions helping people get to grips with their cameras, the basic principles of photography and helping them to kick start their own photographic journey. I’ve even led ‘phone’ photography workshops with the University of Derby. Working with students on marketing courses to better use ‘phone-ography’ to accompany PR stories, marketing briefs and more.

It is these connections with these fabulous people that make me a lucky chap. Getting to chat about photography. Getting to workshop and work through basics and issues and make creative visions come through for other people are the things that give me a real feeling of personal satisfaction. It’s these sessions that re-invigorate me in my work. Kind of like, Talking about things rather than just shooting them makes things real. Does that make sense?
